Setting my spirit free

Horizons tilt on a dawn flight  looking into tomorrow.
The best in flight entertainment - an iPone and a window seat.
Looked out the window and saw a sleeping elephant leaning against the landscape
Keep on rockin' me baby plays in my head in light almost Turneresque coming in to land 6:45 am in Phoenix - the prettiest I have ever seen this vast urban sprawl-in-a-desert place.

Early sunlight gives shape and depth, maybe even mystery. Usually harsh light makes it flat and always the shimmering heat haze.

Phoenix has to be one of the hottest cities in the U.S.

Phoenix Arizona: a  place of loss for me, a place to transit through.

....keep on rockin' me baby....I'm gonna fly like an eagle/ set my spirit free... Oh yeah!

Nocturne

Almost got skunked. Again.

Moon gazing is hazardous at the Blue House. Skunk owns the night - the little critter with a huge reputation commands respect.

Amazing way to protect oneself: reputation.

Good Night New Mexico

Hottentot's God- ancestral voices at the threshold

Look who I found guarding the echinacea blooms! Mantis messenger at the north entrance.

Who else is gonna bring you a broken arrow/who else is going to bring you a bottle of rain

There is a haunted historic hotel building on Main Street. Story  goes that someone hung themselves from a tree behind this building and several restless ghosts still appear.

The back portion was built in1878. By 1907 the structure was was extended to  became the first hotel to serve the newly constructed railroad.

It was first known as the American Hotel, then Aztec Residence Hotel (1968) then Miss Gail's Inn (1992). Now it is studio rentals.

Research indicates that this building had the first telephone and first dining hall in town. No golden arches and all the other purveyors of junk food which line entrances to towns and cities across the land. Hotel dining rooms were important places to get a meal way back then.

Railway workers could apparently rent single cots in the basement in the early days. Imagine that - an old haunted hotel. For sale by owner.

Do you feel what I feel
Do you feel what I feel
Ah can you see what I see
Can you cut behind the mystery
I will meet you by the witness tree
Leave the whole world behind
