Neighbours

Tattle tale snow keeps no secrets.

Someone's been creeping around my back door.

 Marmaduke stands accused.

However, Marmaduke, the marmalade cat who overseas the compound isn't the only one investigating la casita.
Distinctly deer shaped prints pattern the soft mud where the snow melts against the adobe walls, mingling with feline paw prints.

Pie : in memoriam

I think about Mother often, but especially so on the anniversary of my birth.

I did not have cake this birthday but instead treated myself to a healthy slice of Black Cherry pie at Pagosa Baking Company.

In memory of a mother who baked.

Home. The other bookend to the day

At the end of the day, again the moon.

Does Lunabella live at my house?

Viva snow people, viva

It's been so cold that the Bistro snowpeople haven't melted in a week. They have, however, acquired some more accessories
Rosemary sprig hair
Ready for the boatman with dimes for eyes.
Here they were two weeks ago

Wolf moon howling

The Full wolf moonset competed with the street light as I walked out of la casita at dawn.

It is 14F chilly, with lethal ice underfoot but oh! the infinite blue!

Crossing state lines for love

One of the best things about January 15th this year is that I found a shop which sells loose leaf Pu-erh tea under 50 miles away.

Yes I have to cross state lines for love* - which, in this case, translates as to source my ( expensive) tea habit.

Snow put a damper/ chill on other explorations which I had planned for the day

*By Grand Central Station I sat Down and Wept ( 1945) by Canadian poet and novelist  Elizabeth Smart deals with the topic of the illegality of crossing state lines for love/ sex in North America
