Dragging the chariot

Currently the outside temperature is 22°F or -5° C, whatever your measure, in a slow pure dawn. The crescent moon is dragging the chariot of light from the belly of the mountain. The orchestra of birds is tuning up.

Puddles from yesterday's rain and wet snow are frozen into treacherous ice lakes across the streets. A dangerous beauty lurks in shiny places underfoot. The potholes in Stingy Road are fascinating faceted crystalline things.Couldn't help but think, as I watched the moonrise over the mountain this morning, about how we need to clean closets not just of things, but of dark weighty secrets too. The parts of our life we do not own up to, our shadowed, dark and hidden lives, are baggage equal to ten times the boxes of stuff. To construct a life which bears scrutiny in every aspect is the minimalist way.

Honesty. That is all it takes.

Good morning from the backyard lockup! Thank you horned moon for piercing, ice sharp clarity this morning.
